What we collect
- What owners give us about the business: name, category, city, phone, website, a public email (shown only if the owner chooses), description, hours, photos and links.
- The owner's login email (never shown).
- A salted, one-way hash of your IP address for rate limits and report counting. We do not store IP addresses.
- For purchases: the PayPal payer email and transaction number PayPal sends us.
What we never collect
Home addresses (the "we go to our customers" option hides the street address), dates of birth, social security or tax numbers, or card numbers (PayPal handles payment).
No tracking
There is no analytics service and no tracking cookie on businesslist.me, and public pages set no cookies. The one script from another site is the banner ad from adengine.us described under Advertising. Page views are counted by our own server, without cookies, so we can show sponsors real numbers. Signing in sets one session cookie.
Advertising
The home page, the category, city and category-in-city pages, Prices, How we verify, About and Help show one banner ad below the page, labelled "Advertisement". It comes from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC's own services. It is not a sponsor panel and says nothing about any listed business. A business's own page, search, the owner pages, sponsoring, checkout, these policy pages and error pages show no ad.
To show the ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your IP address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests.
- No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
- How your IP address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your IP address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC's own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
- What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (IP address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
- Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser's site, which has its own privacy policy.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared.
We send only the emails the site needs: confirmation and sign-in links, decisions about your listing, verification codes, receipts, reminders before something ends, and the yearly "still open?" check. Reminder emails have a one-click unsubscribe; it stops reminders only.
Payments
PayPal processes payments under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep things
Deleted listings are erased after 30 days. PayPal notification logs are kept for 400 days. The payer email on a payment record is removed after 18 months. Email logs are kept for 180 days.

Sign in and delete your listing (immediate), or email legal@businesslist.me.
